Spelling and Calendars

Spelling Lists went home today along with October calendars. I'm hoping to get on Spelling City right now to update the lists. But here is some info you will need:

C1-Jesse, Jade, Rorey, and Gabby
B2- Paige, Jacob, Nick V, and Anthony
B1-Cat, Cameron, Grayson H, Payton, Travis, Gage, Ella, Tori, Sebastian, Grayson L, Tommy

Science Test

Science test has postponed til tomorrow.  We never got to the review yesterday and didn't think it was fair to test the kids without reviewing in class before the test.

I think I forgot to mention at Open House that reviews/study guides will be sent home before most math, science and social studies tests.  If the student returns the review on the day of the test, they will earn one extra credit point on their test.  Here is another copy of the review, just in case you lost it, but it should be in the homework packet for the week.

Yard of Me

Your Child's Yard of Me Project came home today.  Here are the directions, just in case you lose them.  The project is due Tuesday, October 1st.

Spelling This Week

Hi, parents!  I just finished up scoring your child's spelling assessment that allows me to place them in a spelling group.  I am still working on where to put certain students.  Therefore, lists won't be ready to go home tomorrow.  I will send home another practice week list of words second graders should know.  This will allow me some time to finish up showing them all the word work activities at school, while allowing me some time to get the groups just right.  Thanks for your understanding!

New Special Schedule

With the new section of Kindergarten added, our specials will change.

Thursday-Research Center
Friday- Music

Just found out new schedule will start NEXT Monday!  So, we will have ISM tomorrow and Research Center on Friday.  Sorry for any confusion!!

Spelling Info

Your child brought home a spelling list this week.  This list is intended to get your child in the “swing of things” and use it to practice the activities at home and school.  I tested all the students on Friday.  This allows me to look at each child and see where their strengths and weaknesses are in spelling.  After I score each test, I will be placing students in groups that match their skill levels.  These words will be your child’s words for this week AND next week.  This will allow us to get in all the activities at school.  We will do a practice test next Friday with these words so students see how spelling will work in second grade. 

I am hoping student homework packets will be coming home next week.

Whatta Week!

This week will be a little crazy.  I found out on Friday that I will be subbed out for training on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.  This is GREAT because I will learn how to use our cool new technology, but bad in the sense that I won't be in the classroom as much as I want to be.

I have tested half the students today with their reading and will be finishing up my testing tomorrow morning.
